- Reinforced concrete elements with a maximum traffic load of 5,0 kN/m2.
- Three-dimensional load bearing structures in accordance with DIN 1045 (shell-type and folded plate structures) only with R117 cylindrical reinforced glass concrete over the entire thickness.- Structural elements capable of bearing vehicle loads in exceptional cases only with paving blocks B 117 and R 117 and B 1580.
These elements may, however, not be included in the static calculation as being structurally effective.
Structural elements made of reinforced glass concrete are weight -bearing structures which can be calculated as load-bearing structures spanning in one or two directions. When load-bearing structures span in two directions, the longer effective span must not be more than twice the length of the shorter span. Concrete ribs for all load-bearing structures spanning in one direction must be at least 6 cm. thick. When used in sturctures spanning in two directions, they must be at least 8 cm. thick and not less than 3 cm. wide at the point of reinforcement. Special steps must be taken to protect all reinforced glass concrete structures from the transmission of constraining forces from the building structure. This is why sliding and expansion joints must be provided. Reinforced glass concrete structures can be constructed using either concrete cast on site or prefabricated elements. The compressive strength of the concrete ribs corresponds to B 25.
